Carbon impact of local projects
There are three pillars to the St Andrews Forest: Carbon, Nature, and People.
Smaller projects local to St Andrews are valuable for Nature and for People, but do not offset carbon emissions. These projects will sequester carbon, enhance biodiversity, add amenity, and provide opportunities for teaching and research.
Carbon offsetting projects must be accredited and monitored by third-party auditors against agreed standards, before the projects are implemented and throughout their lifetimes. As this is not the case for our small projects, they are not included in carbon offsetting claims.
